Reading articles for a rookie newsletter.

“We should start a newsletter. I can choose the articles for the first one based on the ones I have read. You guys can send in your recommendations.” Amit announced.

Being chosen for the first newsletter is an honor. Let’s see which articles Amit selects.

I read the articles written by my fellow writers. The majority of articles are so good that the term “Rookie” does not fit.

When in doubt, ask your wife.

My wife read Nishant’s article, Mr. Chakravarthy impressed her a lot. I then showed her, what Nishant sketches on Twitter. He makes Chicago look so captivating.

Next, she moved on to an article by Aradhana. She asked me if I ever “casually lied’ to her. I wanted to say “Yes. Whenever you asked me if you cook better than my mom.” but I knew better.

Manmeet’s article gave her a free tour of his house in Gurgaon. His “Badi Mummy” reminded my wife of her grandmother who passed away when she was here in the USA.

She read all the comments and asked me “Why don’t you comment too? People write such encouraging comments. One or two even wrote that your articles are nice.” She tried to keep a straight face.

Ignoring her sarcastic comments, I told her “Giving feedback on my friend’s articles is like teaching Gavaskar how to Straight drive.”

She stood up to go to the bedroom. Talking about cricket was the best way to keep her off my back.

“So you didn’t tell me how will you get your article published in the newsletter. Does Amit accept bribes?” She had now reached the stairs.

“Very funny.” I was fuming.

“He can have a section in the Newsletter: How Not To Write. He can put your articles there every week.” She ran upstairs before I could throw the pillow at her.
